Compliance Officer, Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

About This Opportunity 

We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Compliance Officer to join the Placement Ready Team in our renowned Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Behavioural Sciences.

As a key member of our team, you will take charge of initiating, monitoring, and reporting on compliance for students enrolled in programs with a WIL component across the Faculty. Your responsibilities will include coordinating various administrative tasks to ensure students meet pre-placement compliance standards in their respective disciplines. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing business processes related to student placement agreements and ensuring compliance among our placement providers.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Manage student pre-placement compliance – Initiate, process, monitor, and maintain accurate records for requirements including Working with Children checks, Disability Worker Screening, Criminal History checks, immunisations, CPR, First Aid, placement safety training, travel declarations, and Queensland Health requirements.

  • Analyse and report compliance data – Use enterprise systems (e.g., InPlace) to design, monitor, and interpret reports, integrating large datasets to track and report on student and placement provider compliance.

  • Provide specialist compliance advice – Apply detailed knowledge of pre-placement compliance rules, policies, and legislation to interpret requirements and deliver clear guidance and decisions to staff and students.

  • Coordinate stakeholders and support service delivery – Build strong relationships with academic and placement staff, respond to stakeholder queries, deliver information sessions, and provide direct support to students via face-to-face and online channels.

About You  

  • Completion of a degree level qualification with relevant work-related experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under general direction and follow established procedures whilst contributing positively to an effective team through highly developed interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex rules, provide accurate and timely advice and handle sensitive matters confidentially.

  • A proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks, negotiate and meet competing deadlines and manage multiple tasks and large datasets.

  • High level of proficiency in the use of computer software packages and enterprise systems including databases, spreadsheets, and email with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

  • Flexibility to work occasional non-standard hours in order to meet critical deadlines. Leave restrictions may apply during peak periods.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, with proven experience in preparing quality correspondence.

  • Experience in using InPlace Placement Management System, UniTask and UQ Reportal and the Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel would be advantageous.

Primary location is Herston; however, you may be required to work at the St Lucia or Dutton Park campuses.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia, criminal history checks. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
