Compliance Officer

Main Purpose:

The Compliance Officer will support the Impala Terminals Group commercial compliance function, working closely with the Senior Compliance Officer to deliver Impala's compliance programme across multiple geographies and business lines.

The role covers a broad range of workstreams, ensuring that Impala Terminals operates in full accordance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and industry standards, while fostering a culture of integrity and ethical conduct throughout the organisation. The role also provides expert guidance and advice on regulatory requirements including ABAC, AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Trust, and acts as a point of contact for compliance queries across the business.

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of Impala's Commercial Compliance Programme.

  • Assist in providing compliance guidance to internal stakeholders on day-to-day matters, including ABC, AML,  economic and trade sanctions, and conflicts of interest.

  • Support the preparation and coordination of the annual Compliance Risk Review across Impala Terminals Group entities.

  • Assist in the drafting and implementation of Impala compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with Group standards.

  • Coordinate and deliver compliance training programmes, including in-person sessions across terminals and regional offices.

  • Conduct enhanced due diligence on third parties in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Support the compliance monitoring activities, including expenses, gifts and entertainment controls, and declarations of personal interest.

  • Complete vessel screening checks.

  • Support the maintenance of Impala's whistleblowing compliance framework and assist with compliance investigations, including the drafting of investigation reports and monitoring of remediation actions.

  • Undertake additional activities as directed by Group Compliance Department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFE) are a plus.

  • 1-2 years of proven experience in compliance, ethics, or a related field, ideally within the logistics, terminals, commodities, or trading industry.

  • Knowledge of ABAC, AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Trust regulations and best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly convey compliance information.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, international environment.

  • Meticulous demeanor with a dedication to accuracy and integrity.

  • Proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
