Compliance supports the Executive Management Board (EMB) of State Street Bank International GmbH (SSBI) and SSBI employees in their responsibility to comply with laws and regulations applicable to the Bank’s business activities, products/services and functions. This position in Germany is perfect for an individual who has expertise in Compliance risk management within the financial services sector, possesses a good understanding of MaRisk-related regulatory obligations as well as those rules and regulations that are embedded in other non-core Compliance areas such as Finance, Business Recovery and Resolution, Sustainability and Third Party Risk Management. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

You will be a key member of a team that will play an important role in the overall success of MaRisk and other embedded Compliance risk management and oversight in SSBI.
We seek a candidate with strong knowledge of and experience in advising on MaRisk regulatory requirements to help our stakeholders in understanding and navigating Embedded Compliance Risk management challenges and keep abreast of benchmark activities in the financial industry. You will support the team and the Bank as well as the heads of impacted SSBI functions in the development and maintenance of a coherent set of comprehensive standards and guidelines around MaRisk and other ECR related regulatory requirements across all impacted and contribute to cutting-edge solutions to mitigate the relevant regulatory risks. You will be an important contributor in helping SSBI in building resilience in the management and oversight of Embedded Compliance Risks and you will be part of the execution of day-to-day deliverables to the best of your capabilities.
What you will be responsible for
As an Embedded Compliance Risk Advisor, you will
- Support the maintenance of a comprehensive regulatory database, including processes to identify and integrate/oversee MaRisk and other embedded Compliance-related regulatory requirements.
- Advise on applicable ECR regulatory requirements as well as regulators’ expectations in respect of the following activities:
- Perform regular assessment for ECR related risks in relation to the Bank’s organisation and activities.
- Provide interpretative guidance to relevant functions in the adaptation of internal policies and procedures to ECR related regulatory developments and changes.
- Execute monitoring and testing activities to identify control deficiencies and recommend risk mitigation actions.
- Support regulatory risk assessments and in the evaluation of ECR-related regulatory obligations new products, new organisational structures and third party service arrangements.
- Advise on interpretation of regulatory requirements in relation to SSBI periodic regulatory disclosures.
- Work in conjunction with other Compliance team members to resolve regulatory issues in relation to ECR topics and ensure accuracy of accountabilities, and adherence to all policies / standards / guidelines.
- Maintain and continuously develop knowledge around ECR related regulatory obligations and industry best practices, SSBI businesses, products and services, and key technology in use by the business units.
- Support Compliance management and colleagues in the development, implementation, reviews and revisions of Compliance manuals, policies and procedures.
- Liaise with Compliance colleagues globally to share and complete deliverables.

- A solid background in Compliance, Audit and/or Business Control function(s) with expertise in ESG regulation, compliance risk management and monitoring/testing within the financial services.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- MA/ MSc/ BA/ BS (or equivalent experience) in a related field
- Minimum of 5-8 years relevant work experience with risk, compliance, legal or audit functions within the financial services sector preferred, strong knowledge of the IT area and regulation is required
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate with and appropriately influence all levels of management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills
