Job Purpose:

The Compliance Team in London is looking for an intern to assist with a variety of topics.

The candidate will be working alongside a team of 7 on a variety of topics.

The successful candidate will be involved in working on the Compliance Monitoring Programme (“CMP”) of the UK to ensure that we meet our regulatory requirements.

They will take an active role in regulatory horizon scanning to monitor the developments of applicable regulations in the UK.

The candidate will be involved in our thorough AML/CDD procedures and monitoring and assist with screening, review of documents and escalation processes.

They will also be assisting with the implementation of the current FATCA/CRS programme and to enhance systems that are currently in place. 

They will be involved in the review of legal documentation and be expected to learn and interpret relevant regulations such as AIFMD and MiFID II.

The successful candidate will be expected to throw themselves into topics and be part of a team solution. The candidate will be exposed to the fast pace and changing regulatory landscape of the UK office. It is expected to have an ambition for understanding and interpreting complex topics.

The candidate will be assisting with the creation of e-learnings of a variety of topics and assist in the review of employee monitoring.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, and assist with the evaluation of policies and procedures to help with improvements to our compliance programme.

  • Maintain and update compliance databases and trackers and assist in the creation of reports.

  • Monitor compliance laws and regulations and develop and maintain regulatory horizon trackers.

  • Assist with the review of investment committee memos and gain a great understanding into the Private Equity market.

Specialised business and technical knowledge:

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and independent thinker and problem solver.

  • Proactive and organized with an ability to work concurrently on multiple work streams.

  • High integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

  • Existing exposure to compliance would be a positive but not essential.

Education and Experience:

  • Completed studies in Law, Business Law, Compliance or a related field.

  • Interest in financial regulation, compliance and asset management.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Communication Scope:

  • Must be a team player, able to communicate well within the team and to other teams.

  • Will have engagement with regulatory counsel and administrators.

Conduct Rule Staff:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the role.

  • Understand the Individual Conduct Rules set out by the UK Regulator and ensure compliance in letter and in spirit.
