Ethics and Compliance (E&C) Counsel
The position will provide primary support for 3M India, 3M’s operations in Asia but may support Global teams as needed.
The E&C Counsel provides substantive counselling on anti-corruption and matters related to compliance with 3M’s Code of Conduct and policies connected with the business, market and geographic realities. This includes supporting the screening and selection of third parties, identifying and mitigating risks, and developing and deploying training and awareness on key policies and procedures.
The role also includes building a strong compliance culture through training, employee communication, leadership engagement and counseling. The E&C Counsel is responsible for the review and approval of high-risk transactions, including but not limited to Sponsorships, Entertainment, Gifts, Meals and Donations, Conflicts of Interest and Third-Party Due diligence.
The E&C Counsel will also contribute to E&C processes such as Risk Assessments, Compliance Evaluation of 3M operations, Third Party audits, and will monitor and report E&C metrics to identify trends and emerging risks. The E&C Counsel will also monitor anti-corruption and compliance related laws and regulations, and enforcement trends to embed them in 3M´s Global E&C Program to the specific countries as applicable.
To embed compliance into the fabric of organizations, the role requires influencing skills to build partnership with different stakeholders, to create alliances when gaps are identified and obtain engagement and support from leadership teams.

The candidate must be a legal resident in India, has a valid and active license to practice law in India, qualified lawyer with more than 8 years of experience, at least 3 years of substantive experience with Ethics & Compliance programs in a multinational environment.
Fluent in English.
Strong track record of working on or leading cross-functional teams to address client needs or drive process changes. Can work independently to serve clients and with relatively low direct supervision.
Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to establish strong work relationships with leadership teams, business and functional leaders in all levels of the organization.
In order to be successful, the E&C Counsel must be flexible and aware of cultural differences, be able to listen to, and display good relationships with, the organizations. In his or her communication, the E&C Counsel needs to be responsive, clear, and concise.
The candidate must be able to go to the headquarter office in Bangalore, India, consistent with the office requirements and should attend leadership, Board and Audit Committee meetings in person.
Ability to travel up to 25% of time as needed.
