Who are we looking for

We are looking for senior compliance associate for second line of defense reporting directly to Conduct Risk Management Office India Head, and work with a team of professionals to develop and execute conduct risk policy monitoring, Resolve employee(s) queries related to conflict of Interest and outside business activities requirements, assist with regular and ad-hoc tasks related to policy compliance, coach junior team members, assist with management reports, be vigilant of any potential incidents of non-compliance.

This position is perfect for an individual who has experience with Personal Account Dealing, Conflict of Interest and Outside Business Activities, compliance or audit functions. The role will be performed in Bangalore, India.

The Conduct Risk Management Office is also responsible for:

  • Internal policies and procedures, to maintain the Ethical environment within the organization
  • Educating employees on the policy requirements

What you will be responsible for

As a senior compliance associate (EL) you will

  • Develop a strong understanding of State Street’s Standard of Conduct, Global Conflicts of Interest Policy, Global Outside Business Activities Policy, State Street Global Advisors Code of Ethics, Global Personal Investment Policy, and other Conduct related policies and requirements
  • Develop and demonstrate proficiency with Conduct Risk policies and compliance procedures and tools
  •  Ensure the risk that arises out of an employee’s disclosures related to conflicts of Interest or Outside Business Activity and Private Investments is monitored and identify suitable mitigations in accordance with the compliance policy. Support team on compliance tool User acceptance testing (UAT), enhancing the existing ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ and creating the new procedures as required.
  • Ensure all discrepancies are escalated appropriately on a timely manner
  • Assist State Street employees, including management, with questions regarding various topics, including the Standard of Conduct or other Conduct Risk Policies.
  • Support production of management reporting, including but not limited to data collection, qualitative and / or quantitative analysis, formatting, and quality assurance
  • Proactive mindset to actively collaborate with relevant stake holders locally and globally is desired.
  • Ability to work in pressurizing environment, perform ad-hoc projects and requests, prioritize, pay attention to details - identify involved risk and understand Employee(s) query and compliance requirements and drive solution.

  • Sound knowledge of secondary market and financial products.
  • Strong Oral/Written communication skills are desired to handle employes queries over email and calls.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and adaptability in managing multiple evolving tasks and priorities.
  • Strong self-motivation and collaborative mindset, with the capacity to engage effectively with State Street employees
  • Ability to process different types of requests. (review of outside business activity, conflicts of interest, personal trading transaction alerts, etc.) in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Ability to quickly understand new processes and learn effectively in dynamic environments.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience in compliance is preferred
  • Working knowledge on outside business activity, conflicts of interest, Private transactions are preferred
  • Experience on “Star Compliance” applications will be added advantage
  • Candidate should possess strong knowledge of MS Office – Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
