Compliance provides regulatory advice, oversees conduct and regulatory risk, and provides guidance and challenge to make sure the business identifies and manages regulatory risks, stays within its risk appetite and maintains relationships with regulators.

A vacancy has arisen for a Compliance Analyst within M&G’s Risk & Compliance function, supporting M&G Life. The role will support the compliance business partner model, by working alongside senior Compliance colleagues to provide advice and guidance to the Operations function, and Corporate Pension Solutions business. The role is suitable for someone looking to move into Compliance from another financial services role or for a graduate or early careers professional with some financial services risk or compliance experience, who is looking to build a long-term career in Compliance. It will offer the opportunity to develop an understanding of regulatory rules, guidance and expectations, good practice and the application of regulatory and legislative requirements.

Working alongside compliance colleagues, the role will include engagement with colleagues in first line teams across Operations; Corporate Pensions Solutions; and M&G Life’s outsourced service providers. It offers exposure to a range of regulatory topics across M&G Life Operations and Corporate Pensions Solutions.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • The role holder will support the provision of compliance advice and guidance to M&G Life, focusing on Operations, including outsourced service providers, and Corporate Pension Solutions, with oversight from senior Compliance colleagues.
  • Support the interpretation of regulatory requirements, including existing rules and supporting regulatory change projects, and assist in advising business stakeholders.
  • Support with day to day engagement with business leads and project delivery leads on regulatory and business‑led change initiatives, working as part of a wider Compliance team.
  • Assist in identifying and escalating regulatory risks, supporting discussions with Compliance and first line management, and understanding how these are managed within the firm’s risk appetite.
  • Contribute to assessment of controls and processes to support effective compliance.
  • Support Compliance’s oversight activities, including contributing to reviews and challenge of the business’s approach to managing compliance risk.

Key knowledge, skills and experience

  • Foundational knowledge of, or a strong interest in developing understanding of, FCA rules and guidance relevant to pensions and life products.
  • An understanding of current themes in retail financial services, such as an understanding of the FCA’s requirements around good customer outcomes and consumer duty.
  • Good analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to engage proactively with a wide range of colleagues, and build relationships of trust.
  • Able to produce clear and well‑evidenced outputs (including compliance advice), supported by feedback and guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Experience of working within project environments and/or supporting the development and implementation of end to end processes, focusing on delivering good customer outcomes.
  • Able to work collaboratively and to progress tasks independently
  • A willingness to work towards a relevant professional qualification is desirable, with support provided as part of the role.
