About this position

The Denver Auditor’s Office is seeking a thoughtful, collaborative, and compassionate Compliance Administrator (Administrator I). The Auditor’s Office is charged with protecting the interests of Denver’s residents, workers, taxpayers, and employers. Its award-winning Audit Services Division conducts audits to promote transparency and accountability, improve government programs, and ensure the effective use of public dollars. The Denver Labor Division is charged with finding, fixing, and preventing wage theft. Both divisions are proactive, responsive to stakeholders, embedded in the community, and utilize cutting-edge research, technology, and tools to develop best practices.
 

Under the direction of the Auditor’s Office’s Business Manager, the Compliance Administrator (Administrator I) will play a crucial role in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts within the Auditor’s Office. Additionally, this position will have citywide contract review responsibilities before submitting for the Auditor’s signature to ensure the contract meets legal requirements for city contracts. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can prioritize their workload in a fast-paced environment. The preferred candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong time management and organizational skills, is self-motivated, and is resourceful. Someone who seeks an intellectual challenge in an environment defined by collegiality, public service, and work-life balance is well-suited for this role

Auditor’s Office employees are currently working a hybrid schedule. This position requires a combination of in-office attendance at our Downtown Denver location and off-site (remote) work. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site work days.

We provide a computer with all work-related software applications; you must have a stable home internet connection for any remote work.

Specific responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Act as records custodian for the Auditor’s Office.

  • Review all City and County of Denver contracts pursuant to applicable standards before the Auditor countersigns contracts.

  • Review all Denver Water contracts pursuant to applicable standards before the Auditor countersigns contracts.

  • Review all Colorado Department of Transportation contracts pursuant to applicable standards before the Auditor countersigns contracts.

  • Work with Auditor’s Office executive sponsors to negotiate contracts and communicate with vendors on behalf of the Auditor’s Office.

  • Management of all internal Auditor’s Office contracts from inception to completion, ensuring continuous progress and timely execution without delay.

  • Support all other contracting work for the Auditor’s Office as needed.

  • Serve as point of contact for requests made pursuant to the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA). Work with other individuals in the Auditor’s Office to respond to CORA requests as appropriate and required by law.

  • Support the Auditor’s Office vision, goals, and objectives including high professional standards, building effective relationships, and pursuing continuous improvement, innovation, and quality in our work.

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Auditor’s Office, both as a matter of workplace culture and external relations.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Auditor and the Business Manager.

About You

Our ideal candidate will possess a dynamic combination of the following education and experience:

  • Paralegal certificate.

  • Minimal one year working with contracts in a non-clerical capacity, contract language, and the internal processes of the City and County of Denver.

  • Experience working in a group setting and collaborating with a team of other professionals.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (formerly Microsoft Office) applications and Microsoft file management.

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, law, management, or a closely related field.

  • Experience requirement: Three (3) years’ experience performing full performance professional level duties within a specialized, functional area. This does not include clerical experience.

  • Education and Experience Equivalency:  One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $80,000.00 - $93,000.00, depending on education and experience.
