At Pennylane, we are reinventing how companies manage their finances — and that means striving for operational excellence and transforming our internal processes. Our People team is at the heart of this ambition: we build the systems, tools, and frameworks that allow Pennylane to scale with rigor, fairness, and data-driven clarity.

The role

We are looking for an experienced Compensation & Benefits specialist to join our People Analytics & Tools team and play a key role in structuring, optimizing, and scaling our compensation and benefits programs.
You will report directly to the Head of HR Operations and work closely with People, Finance, and business leadership teams in a true cross-functional business partner role. You will be a go-to expert on all compensation matters, combining strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations for HRBPs, managers, and senior leadership.

Why this role matters at Pennylane

At Pennylane, a robust, fair, and competitive compensation framework is not a "nice to have", it's a strategic lever. And the key success factor for this role is being a true business partner.
This role requires a deep understanding of our business challenges, team dynamics, and day-to-day reality. That's why we're looking for someone who has already worked in similar environments: scale-up, fast growth, organizations in transformation, and knows how to navigate that complexity with agility.

In practice, you will be:

-Embedded in the business: working closely and regularly with HRBPs, N+1 and N+2 managers, you'll be their go-to trusted advisor on all compensation matters, from everyday decisions to the most sensitive trade-offs
-The architect of our compensation framework: from benchmarking to merit cycles, you'll build the tools and processes that make compensation decisions faster, more consistent, and better informed
-A strategic partner to the People team: you'll contribute to making Pennylane a place where people feel fairly recognized and rewarded, and you'll be one of the key people holding that standard

Your responsibilities

Compensation analysis & benchmarking:
-Conduct regular market benchmarking and salary surveys to ensure our compensation positioning remains competitive
-Analyze internal pay equity and provide recommendations to close gaps
-Build and maintain compensation grids, bands, and leveling frameworks

Compensation cycles:
-Coordinate and animate annual and mid-year compensation review processes (merit increases, bonuses, equity)
-Design and maintain the tools and workflows supporting these cycles (Google Sheets, Workday, etc.)
-Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all HR systems

Business partner & advisory
-Support HRBPs and managers in day-to-day compensation decisions (offers, promotions, adjustments)Provide structured, clear, and business-oriented recommendations to N+1 and N+2 management
-Translate complex compensation data into digestible insights for non-HR audiences

Reporting & insights:
-Build and maintain compensation dashboards and recurring reports for People leadership and Finance
-Identify trends, anomalies, and areas of improvement across the compensation landscape
-Contribute to broader People Analytics initiatives, supporting a data-driven People team

Process improvement & automation:
-Continuously challenge and improve existing compensation processes
-Leverage available tools to automate manual tasks and increase team efficiency
-Collaborate with the People Ops and People Analytics team on cross-functional projects

Your environment & tools

-Workday (HRIS)
-Dust, Notion (internal AI & knowledge management platform)
-Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs)
-Potential to leverage other BI/data tools as needed: Looker, Metabase, SQL, etc.

Who we're looking for

-5+ years' experience in compensation & benefits analysis, ideally in a fast-growing tech or consulting environment
-Strong data-driven mindset, with a passion for analysis, automation, and continuous process improvement
-Business-oriented: excellent at reporting and at advising HRBPs, managers, and senior leadership on compensation topics
-Experience managing cross-functional projects, interfacing with diverse teams (People, Finance, Business)
-Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets (complex formulas, pivot tables, modelling)
-Experience with Workday HRIS is a strong plus
-Comfortable working with complex datasets, structuring reporting, and delivering analysis to varied audiences
-Rigorous, autonomous, and fast learner, able to quickly ramp up on new topics
-Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)

What we offer

-A key role in a fast-scaling, product-led company with real business impact
-A collaborative and high-standards People team
-The tools, autonomy, and trust to build things the right way
-Competitive compensation package (including equity)
-Benefits package
