Compensation Analyst - Office of Human Resources

We are currently searching for a Compensation Analyst to join our team. This position will support the mission of the University and the Human Resources department by assisting with the development and administration of the University’s compensation program so that it continues to attract, retain, and motivate employees. This role analyzes internal and external data to ensure internally equitable, and market competitive pay practices and provides recommendations that align with organizational goals and compliance standards. The Compensation Analyst also collaborates with Human Resources Business Partners and unit leadership teams to evaluate job roles and support compensation related decision making

Core responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating new and existing jobs to determine the value of a position based on the responsibilities of the employee and ensuring appropriate classification; modifying and creating new job descriptions that accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements. 

  • Preparing reports, spreadsheets and executive summaries on findings and handling administrative steps to formalize recommendations; communicating with stakeholders regarding the result of compensation work. 

  • Handling basic-level compensation projects and initiatives, with regular guidance from department leadership.

  • Updating and ensuring the maintenance of the market survey tool and information contained within; forwarding salary survey information to appropriate vendors in a timely manner.

  • Adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Responding to ad hoc compensation data requests and generating relevant reports for stakeholders.

  • Partnering with HR colleagues to assess Wage and Hour compliance, FLSA exemption determinations, and advising on moderately complex compensation inquiries.

  • Serving as a key contact for HRT partners who support compensation systems, ensuring smooth technical operations and enhancements.

  • Supporting additional compensation-related initiatives and projects as needed

  • Auditing compensation data within HRIS to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Assisting with the processing of Independent Contractor and Prevailing Wage Determinations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 1-3 years of HR experience required

  • Excel experience required

    • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
