Job Summary

Under direction and within the scope of departmental policies and guidelines, assists in the Community Service and Inmate Work Program of City-County prisoners.

Job Description

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.

Essential Job Functions

  • Interview clients, collect client data, assess the data and determine the client’s eligibility for the program.
  • Document criminal records and references.
  • Compile data for client files.
  • Prepare client reports for the court.
  • Check court minutes for pertinent information on the Oklahoma Supreme Court Network (OSCN).
  • May complete and record follow-up calls to clients and refer calls as necessary. 
  • May assist with urinalysis testing. 
  • May participate with the Community Service work crew if needed. 
  • Supervise an electronic alcohol  monitor caseload and may install equipment.
  • May conduct sobriety analysis testing using a portable breath tester (PBT), providing results to courts as needed 
  • Clean equipment as needed.  
  • Responsible for scheduling clients to work for the Tulsa County Community Service Program.
  • Contact the location supervisor and verify the  client work hours. .
  • Collect and compile data on the individual and notify the Court of the completion of the required work hours.
  • Enter and update client information on the computer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skill in:

  • Assessing and evaluating individuals

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of pretrial release programs; of community service
  • City/county/state/federal criminal codes and regulations; of court services
  • Departmental policies and procedures
  • Word processing software, spreadsheet software, contact management software, database software, and internet

  • Utilize a personal computer
  • Deal tactfully with others
  • Express facts and opinions clearly and concisely orally and in writing
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, of diagram form
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED; and 2 years full-time paid employment in criminal justice, court related position or law enforcement.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
