About the role


The Community Relations Manager will develop and lead stakeholder engagement activities in South Australia to support AGL’s new generation and storage projects around the State and for existing operations, including at Torrens Island Power Station near Port Adelaide and our regional wind farm locations.

The ideal candidate could be based at Adelaide, Torrens Island (Port Adelaide) or Mid-North SA.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and lead the engagement program to support new generation and storage projects in conjunction with the Senior Manager Stakeholder Engagement SA and other key members of Corporate Affairs.  
  • Lead engagement with the Traditional Owners of lands on which AGL is either developing new energy project or operating existing assets. 
  • Monitor and report on stakeholder needs, interests and issues, and proactively recommend actions to manage identified risks.  
  • Develop communications materials and utilise a range of forums and channels to ensure local communities are informed, engaged and have opportunities to provide input into AGL’s projects and operations in SA. 
  • Facilitate engagement with key community groups with an interest in AGL projects and operations, including facilitating visits and tours to AGL sites. 
  • Participate in systems, policy and process improvement initiatives to improve team operation.  
  • Work proactively across appropriate business units within AGL which may include project, communications, media and regulatory teams.  
  • Demonstrate AGL Values by acting in the best interests of AGL at all times and working together across the business to create the best overall results and decisions. Encourage and value the diversity in AGL’s workforce, upholding AGL’s inclusive workplace culture.  

 

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in developing and implementing community engagement strategies for diverse community stakeholders to support energy, infrastructure, or similar projects. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with a diverse range of people. 
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team and effectively manage time and prioritise workload. 
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity in dealings with fellow team members and with external stakeholders and business partners. 
  • An understanding and experience of using a variety of communication channels, appropriate to the target group, to communicate information.  
  • Experience in a similar role or applicable local knowledge or community relations activities.
