As our Gardener, you’ll help create a welcoming, safe and thriving environment where fresh produce is grown, shared and enjoyed. This role supports the mission of the Garden of Hope by contributing to community engagement and ensuring the garden, sheds and storerooms operate smoothly. It’s hands-on, meaningful work that directly supports people who visit and volunteer at the Garden of Hope.

About the role

This part-time position sits within the Garden of Hope team based at Gosnells and reports to the Garden of Hope Mission Leader. You’ll work across gardening and storekeeping tasks, helping maintain the garden beds, sheds and storage areas. The role includes cultivating and harvesting produce, supporting volunteers, receiving and sorting donated goods, and ensuring tools and equipment are used safely and returned after use.

You’ll also help maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment for all who attend the Garden of Hope. Pay is in accordance with a Miscellaneous Level 2 classification subject to experience.

How you will make an impact

  • Assist with the cultivation, maintenance and harvesting of fruits, vegetables and herbs

  • Support the feeding and care of animals onsite

  • Operate basic gardening tools and equipment safely

  • Welcome and support volunteers and community members in gardening activities

  • Maintain a clean, safe and inviting garden environment

  • Receive, sort and store donated goods, produce and supplies

  • Keep sheds and storage areas tidy, organised and safe

  • Ensure tools are returned and stored correctly

What you will bring

  • Experience in gardening, landscaping or storekeeping (desirable but not essential)

  • A passion for community work and sustainable gardening

  • Basic horticultural knowledge or a willingness to learn

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks

  • A respectful, compassionate approach to people from diverse backgrounds
