Position Title: Community Engagement Worker
Location: Brisbane Street Streetlevel Mission
Employment Status: Part-Time (24 hours per week)

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.

About the Role

As a Community Engagement Worker, you will work collaboratively with the Streetlevel team to design, coordinate, and deliver high-quality, needs-based community programs. These programs aim to strengthen connections between Streetlevel Mission and the local community while supporting the Mission and values of The Salvation Army.

You will build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify community needs and develop meaningful, inclusive activities that respond effectively to those needs.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Design, facilitate, and deliver community-based programs that address identified community needs.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community partners and service providers.
  • Promote and model The Salvation Army’s values and ethos through all community engagement activities.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, records, and reporting in line with organisational requirements.

What You Will Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Counselling, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering community-based programs or activities.
  • Experience in community engagement within a not-for-profit, faith-based, or community organisation.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
