We anticipate the need for one or more Communication Technician I to be located at 414 Nicollet Ave in Minneapolis, MN. The starting rate of pay for this position will be $64.32 per hour. This position will be posted for 10 Working Days from April 28, 2026, to May 11, 2026.

Summary

Duties are the installation, maintenance and troubling shooting of Xcel Energy’s private and public Voice, Data network equipment and circuits.

 
Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of technical experience in communications/electronics or equivalent.
  • Successfully pass EEI TECH B test.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 70 pounds.
  • Requires participation in after-hour emergency callouts in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Must have good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures, at high heights, in noisy atmospheres.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Willing to travel throughout the region area often with overnight stays.
  • Must be a self-motivated person and willing to work on his or her own.
  • Must be able to obtain BICSI Technician certification upon being eligible to acquire.
  • Must be able to obtain MN Power Limited License or higher upon being eligible to acquire.
  • Must be able to obtain Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access.


Preferred

  • Additional certifications in telecommunications and data systems.
  • Additional education and experience with telecommunication and data systems.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $64.32 per hour
