What We Want
We are looking for a creative, organized, and detail driven communications professional to support Education Abroad within the Global Engagement department. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in communications and graphic design, with proven experience developing content for both print and digital platforms. This person should be comfortable juggling multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines, and collaborating with colleagues across the department to support shared goals.

A great fit for this role is someone who can translate complex information into clear, engaging messages; design polished marketing materials that reflect brand standards; and approach each project with curiosity and a desire to understand the needs of our audiences.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Email and Digital Marketing

  • Plans, designs, and executes email marketing campaigns to promote Education Abroad programs and initiatives, including the annual photo and video contest.

  • Creates and manages newsletters, including writing, editing, and coordinating content from internal stakeholders.

  • Builds and maintains email templates using platforms such as Maestro or similar tools, ensuring compliance with accessibility and branding standards.

  • Posts and manages digital advertisements on campus platforms, including event posts on the LiveWhale calendar.

  • Applies best practices for audience targeting, personalization, and engagement across email and digital campaigns.

  • Monitors and analyzes campaign performance metrics.

Graphic Design

  • Designs marketing materials for social media, web, print, events, presentations, and promotional items.

  • Creates templates and visual assets for departmental use.

  • Prepares files for print and digital production, including coordinating with vendors for specifications and press checks as needed.

  • Ensures all materials reflect branding and messaging guidelines.

Writing and Communication

  • Writes, edits, and proofreads all written content for marketing-related projects.

  • Ensures all marketing communications reflects departmental branding, tone, and accessibility standards.

  • Assists with proactively finding student and faculty stories that help highlight Education Abroad programs and initiatives.

  • Supports leadership with rapid response communications for urgent updates or program changes.

  • Assists with the implementation of the overall marketing and communications plan for Education Abroad.

  • Contributes to discussions on audience engagement and identifying additional creative avenues for reaching target audiences.

Web Content Management

  • Updates and maintains the Education Abroad section of the Global Engagement website, ensuring accessibility and branding standards are met.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to keep program information accurate and timely.

Salary: $4,630.00/month

Other Requirements and Factors:

  • This position is housed within the Global Engagement department but primarily supports Education Abroad.

  • May be required to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • May be required to work on or off campus. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field.

  • Two years of experience in communications and graphic design, including experience with print and digital media.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and implementing marketing strategies to support organizational goals.

  • Experience running email marketing campaigns.

  • Experience with increasing social media engagement rates.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and present ideas clearly.
