PATH began its work in India in the late 1990s, bringing together governments, communities, private-sector companies, and experienced public health practitioners to address some of the country’s most pressing health issues. Today, PATH’s India projects focus on TB/HIV, vaccines, nutrition, health innovation, and more. PATH’s India country program engages with various stakeholders and target groups, for which creating compelling and engaging visual content is essential.

Objective of the Assignment

The Design Specialist will provide strategic and creative thinking to elevate PATH’s visual identity, storytelling, and design systems across programs, geographies, and platforms. This role sits at the intersection of design, communications, and global health, translating complex technical and policy content into compelling, accessible, and impactful visual narratives.
 

Scope of Work

To lead design strategy, oversee execution, manage internal and external designers, and ensure brand consistency while enabling innovation and contextual relevance across regions.

  • Lead the development and evolution of PATH’s design strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, program goals, and brand guidelines.

  • Serve as a strategic design advisor to communications, program, and leadership teams.

  • Translate complex public health, policy, and technical content into clear, engaging visual formats.

  • Produce and manage the design of a wide range of materials, including:
    a) Reports, policy briefs, and donor-facing publications
     b) Campaign assets and social media content
    c) Event branding and convening materials
    d) Presentations, infographics, IEC material and data visualization
    e) Digital assets for web and multimedia platforms
    f) Design logos as needed and other branded collateral, including diaries and calendars.
     

  • Ensure high standards of visual quality, clarity, accessibility, and consistency.

  • Balance creativity with accuracy, sensitivity, and evidence-based communication.

  • Create excellent, on-brand, and customized illustrations and animations for various digital channels.

  • Support with the video editing and photography for digital channels.

  • Oversee the branding for PATH Events and develop event material like standee, backdrop etc.

  • Develop and refine design guidelines, templates, and toolkits to support program teams.

  • Review and approve key design outputs for brand and quality assurance.

  • Manage external designers, agencies, and consultants, including briefing, review, and quality control.

  • Work closely with program teams to deliver integrated communication solutions and support launches, campaigns, and global convenings.

  • Any other work as assigned and needed.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+years of experience in a similar role. Experience in working with INGOs will be an asset.

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in graphic design from a reputed design institute.

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) with working knowledge of CorelDraw.

  • Proficiency in creating animated gifs or animated short videos using Illustrator, After Affects, Motion or Premiere and other related software.

  • Flair for creating engaging and compelling graphic designs for different audiences, online and offline, from program briefs, technical and project updates, reports and case studies.

  • Proficient in English. Similar skills in Hindi or any other regional Indian language will be a bonus.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to achieve quality standards and work autonomously as a constructive member of a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment and under pressure for tight deadlines.

  • Self-starter, adaptable, and able to work as part of a cross-cutting and multi-cultural team.

  • A compelling graphic design portfolio of past work.
