About the role


The Communications Manager will deliver communications that connect people with AGL’s purpose, vision, values and strategy. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, experienced in working across multi-disciplinary teams and in collaboration with other parts of a Corporate Affairs function. They will be a skilled stakeholder manager, with sound interpersonal skills, capable of managing senior stakeholder relationships.

This role will also play a pivotal part in supporting employee communications for AGL’s retail business, as well as strategy and sustainability and other corporate functions where required.

What you'll be doing
 

  • Develop and execute communication plans to support key business initiatives and companywide announcements.
  • Provide business leaders with advice and support to improve communication outcomes.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders on external speaking engagements, thought leadership opportunities and case studies, including managing approvals.
  • Work proactively to identify communication gaps and deliver high quality solutions and improvements.
  • Provide support with large scale employee events as required, including employee town halls and major announcements.
  • Work collaboratively with all parts of the Corporate Affairs team to protect and enhance AGL’s reputation and drive positive employee engagement across the business
  • Develop integrated communication plans to support the Customer Markets Business with a range of announcements including new products, brand campaigns and customer operations.
  • Develop engaging internal communication campaign assets to help connect employees to our strategic priorities to connect our customers to a sustainable future and being future fit.
  • Support the planning and development of communication materials associated with major company communications activities. Examples include Leader Briefing Kits, scripting leader messages, developing social media content and producing high quality internal news articles for the company intranet and other relevant channels.

What you'll bring
 

  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in communications, ideally within an ASX listed organisation
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies
  • Experience developing communication materials for a diverse audience
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with a diverse range of people.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team and effectively manage time and prioritise workload.
  • Experience with financial results communication is desirable but not critical
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and navigating stakeholder relationships in a complex, issues-rich environment
  • Ability to act as a trusted advisor to business partners, providing advice on strategy and tactics in support of enterprise campaigns and change management programs
  • Excellent attention to detail in developing communication plans and assets
  • Collaborative, team orientated work style, focused on delivery of outcomes
