Position Summary


You will be accountable for delivery of GSK’s communication and government affairs in Portugal. You will shape how GSK is seen by policymakers, healthcare stakeholders and the public, ensuring GSK is perceived as a trusted partner externally, influencing national policy and managing external affairs matters both on an ongoing and issues management basis. You will work across teams including Medical, Market Access, Marketing and Global Corporate Affairs. We value clear thinking, collaborative working, and a calm, practical approach to complex issues. Main Responsibilities


This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Develop and deliver local communications and government affairs plans aligned to global direction and local business priorities.
  • Build trusted relationships with government, healthcare decision makers, patient groups and trade associations.
  • Lead media relations, public communications, and reputation work, including proactive campaigns and reactive issues management.
  • Create clear advocacy materials and briefings, including position papers, stakeholder briefs and meeting notes.
  • Monitor policy, political and media developments and provide timely insights to inform business decisions.
  • Work across functions to ensure consistent messaging and compliant approvals.

Working model


You will be based in Lisbon with a mix of office and remote work and external engagements. Occasional travel across Portugal and to regional meetings may be required.

Basic Qualifications


We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals

  • Degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Policy, Life Sciences, Business or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, public affairs, government affairs or a related role.
  • Experience in media relations, issues management, public and government affairs, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal skills in Portuguese and English.
  • Practical understanding of Portugal’s healthcare and policy environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines and budgets with attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications


If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or public health sectors.
  • Experience developing advocacy strategies and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Familiarity with digital communications and social media for stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and with cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of building relationships with policy makers and health system stakeholders.
  • Advanced degree or professional training in public affairs, communications or health policy.
