Job Summary:

The Communications Generalist role is a full-time, salaried exempt position that broadly supports a variety of internal and external communications and marketing activities for Allegion’s Global Corporate Communications (GCC) team. This individual will report to a Senior Communications Strategist and will be highly collaborative with the full GCC team. 

The role is ideal for someone who thinks creatively, is meticulously organized and thrives in a fluid and fast-paced environment, where no day is the same and you have challenging projects that help you stretch and grow. You’ll work alongside experts who develop integrated communications plans and implement them. These initiatives span corporate brand and reputation, executive and business strategy communications, digital marketing, sponsorships and events, culture and employee matters, media, government and community relations, as well as thought leadership and more.

What You Will Do:  

  • Support the creation and delivery of clear, engaging and consistent communications and marketing campaigns for Allegion’s core corporate audiences, ranging from global employees and future talent, to media, government, industry associations, communities, shareholders and analysts. 

  • Provide general corporate communications support across all functions and business segments, maintaining an understanding of the business and community to ensure effective messaging.

  • Develop written and visual content for key internal communications channels, including Allegion’s intranet, employee e-newsletter and internal social media platform, as well as external communications channels, including Allegion’s external social media platforms, investor.allegion.com and allegion.com. Examples include, but are not limited to:

    • Editorials, articles and press releases;

    • Awards and promotional materials;

    • Advertisement and sponsorship copy and graphics;

    • Video scripts and storyboards;

    • Print and digital posters;

    • Infographics;

    • Social media and blog posts;

    • Graphics, banners, key visuals and images;

    • Event agendas and themes;

    • PowerPoint slides / presentations; and

    • Communication project briefs.

  • Help manage editorial and communications project calendars, as well as update content for key corporate assets, e.g., About Allegion slides, thought leader blog, corporate newsrooms, updates to sections of the Intranet and website, and more.

  • Partner with the broader GCC team, internal business partners and other stakeholders to deliver communications that support Allegion’s business strategy and growth.

  • Implement corporate brand guidelines and style guides.

  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, as needed, using data to make improvements.

  • Serve as the back-up contact, as needed, for other GCC team members.

  • The primary work location is the Carmel, Indiana office and offers flexibility on days in the office.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • This is an entry-level or early-career role. Similar work experience (including internships and apprenticeships) is preferred but not required.

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing disciplines or equivalent work experience, and excellent writing, editing and verbal communications skills.

  • Requires the ability to work collaboratively, openness to learning and trying new things, and a knack for reprioritizing and showcasing flexibility as projects evolve and deadlines change.

  • Experience / demonstrated ability in project management, graphic design, photography and other additive marketing-communications skillsets are preferred but not required.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is required, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Experience with basic graphic design tools is beneficial but not required.
