Role overview:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), social media will play a key role in driving the strategy, execution, and performance of paid social, influencer, and organic content-led campaigns across priority business initiatives. This role combines strategic oversight and operational excellence, serving as a primary owner of key agency relationships, budget tracking, and cross-functional execution.

The AVP will be responsible for translating business priorities into scalable, compliant, and performance-driven social media and influencer programs—while mentoring team members and helping shape the evolution of the social media function at State Street.

Key responsibilities:

Campaign ownership

  • Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of priority campaigns and discretionary initiatives (e.g., thematic, product-led, or opportunity-driven campaigns).

  • Lead campaign performance reviews and present results-driven insights and recommendations for assigned campaigns to internal stakeholders.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Brand, Content, Design, Communications, Public Relations, Analytics, and other internal stakeholders to ensure social media and influencer programs are aligned with broader business objectives and timelines.

Budget tracking

  • Own budget tracking across assigned social campaigns, including forecasting, allocation, ongoing tracking, and reconciliation.

  • Partner with agency and internal finance teams to ensure spend is aligned with approved budgets, scopes of work, and performance expectations.

Agency relationship management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key agency partners for assigned campaigns, supporting the development of scopes of work, campaign kickoffs, day-to-day communications, optimization discussions, and performance reporting.

  • Ensure agencies are delivering against strategic objectives, timelines, and quality standards, while pushing for innovation and continuous improvement.

Influencer strategy & execution

  • Support influencer strategy and execution in partnership with internal stakeholders and external agency teams globally, including goal setting, talent vetting, content development guidance, and activation planning.

  • Ensure influencer content aligns with brand standards, campaign objectives, and compliance guidelines.

  • Deliver post-campaign performance insights and learnings to inform future strategy and investment decisions.

Compliance & risk management

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of industry regulations and internal compliance standards as they relate to social media, paid media, and influencer marketing.

  • Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure all social and influencer initiatives meet regulatory requirements.

  • Embed compliance best practices into workflows, agency guidance, and team processes.

Team support

  • Provide day-to-day mentorship to team members supporting social.

  • Support the ongoing growth and maturation of the social media function.

  • Foster a collaborative, detail-oriented, and performance-driven team culture.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to evolve social strategies in response to changing platform capabilities, audience behaviors, and industry trends.

Qualifications & experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in social media, with a focus on leading large‑scale paid social and influencer campaigns in highly regulated environments.

  • Deep familiarity with major social platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, emerging platforms) and evolving influencer ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and copywriting skills, with the ability to tailor messaging across audiences, platforms, and formats, and present confidently to leadership.

  • Highly detail‑oriented and organized, able to manage multiple high‑visibility projects simultaneously while staying on schedule.

  • Agile, creative thinker with a strong eye for design, capable of providing thoughtful, constructive creative feedback to elevate campaign development and execution.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $140,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
