Supervisor: Solutions Architect

Salary: $16.50 per hour + 4% vacation

Classification: Classification B

Start and end date of employment: ASAP - August 29, 2026

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Solutions Architect, the incumbent assists with various tasks such as providing technical support on alumni social media sites, on the Alumni Website, troubleshooting community member issues and providing additional support to ensure the smooth functioning of the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and responds to alumni requests for assistance, which includes:

    o   Assisting with and troubleshooting access requests to Alumni resources

    o   Providing guidance, information and how-tos with respect to online Alumni resources

    o   Dispatching requests to the appropriate support units when needed

  • Updates templated responses

  • Updates internal knowledge documents

  • Works with colleagues to provide better customer service

  • Assists with testing new solutions for alumni use

  • The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent. For example, incumbents may be asked to perform some elements of Communications Assistant level "A" tasks in addition to the above listed functions.

Competencies:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, and other related fields

  • Knowledge of Python is considered an asset

  • Solid command of the English language

  • Knowledge of McGill campus and resources

  • Ability to use MS Office Suite and web-based databases. 

  • Assets: organization and time-management skills, intermediate French (written).

  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
