Position Summary
WashU Medicine Anesthesiology is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing & Communications (MarComm) Intern with a strong interest in graphic design and visual storytelling. This hands-on internship is ideal for a motivated individual looking to apply design skills in a real-world communications setting while also gaining experience in marketing, public relations, and digital strategy.
The intern will support departmental efforts to enhance visibility, engage diverse audiences, and promote innovative programs, research, and accomplishments. Candidates with strong visual design skills will thrive in this role, particularly those interested in branding and content creation within a healthcare and academic setting. This is a summer internship with a preferred start date of mid-May or early June, with potential to extend into the spring semester based on performance and mutual interest.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager and working under the overall direction of the Director, the intern will:
Design branded digital and print materials, including social media graphics, flyers, presentations, and event collateral.
Contribute to the content creation for newsletters, websites, social media, and internal communications.
Help maintain and grow the department's social media presence.
Support visual storytelling efforts across all platforms, including basic video editing for social media or internal presentations, while maintaining brand consistency.
Assist with event promotion, planning, and execution.
Track marketing metrics and assist in analyzing performance data.
Provide administrative and creative support to the department’s MarComm team.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:

This is a temporary, part-time internship position.
Approximately 15-20 hours per week.
Hybrid schedule, with a minimum of one day per week on-campus.
Some evening or weekend work may be required for events.
