Job Summary: The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General Communications team has an opportunity for you! We're looking for an entry-level Communications Analyst to assist with internal and external communications. Major Duties:

  • We have an immediate opening for an entry-level analyst to join our Communications team. We are looking for a team player with a willingness to learn and grow. With around two years of experience, the ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and able to work independently on projects while supporting the agency's strategic communication initiatives. We're looking for a self-motivated individual who is passionate about thoughtful and engaging communication. Our ideal candidate is a quick learner, outgoing, and a team player who will help our fast-paced and dynamic teams coordinate and enhance our internal and external communications. Your work on our team is important because what we do reaches not only over 830 OIG employees around the country, but also an external audience that includes Congress, USPS executives, employees, the general public, and members of the shipping/logistics industry. You will work closely with the Communications team's writers/editors and graphic designers to support creating communications for our audiences. The position comes with a wide range of responsibilities, including researching and gathering information; editing and producing daily and weekly agency-wide publications; publishing content to our internal and external websites; monitoring blog and social media engagement and analytics; writing, editing and creating PowerPoint presentations; assisting with employee engagement programs; and other duties as assigned. Candidates will be evaluated on the skills that they possess that are directly related to the duties of the position and the experience, education and training that indicate the applicant's ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. The USPS OIG uses a Pay Banding system, which is equivalent to the Federal GS scale. Grade and salary determinations will be made based upon a candidate's education and professional experience. This position is being advertised at the Journey Band level, equivalent to a GS-9 - GS-11. The salary range for this position is $70,623.00 - $111,087.00. The salary figures include locality pay. Promotion potential to a GS-13 equivalent is at management's discretion. Please note that the duties and responsibilities associated with this position may vary. The individual selected will perform a wide range of duties to support the Communications team, including, but not limited to: Coordinating, editing, and producing content, internal newsletters, and messaging. Creating PowerPoint presentations. Drafting and editing internal and external posts and announcements. Assisting in maintaining and managing our internal SharePoint sites and pages and our external website. Monitoring blog and social media engagement. Ensuring accuracy, clarity, and style consistency across communication platforms. Assisting in employee engagement programs. Research and information gathering. Providing assistance to the Communications staff. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS You must meet ALL of the minimum qualifications listed below. Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar field of study from an accredited college or university. AND Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and Teams. AND Applicants must have at least two years of professional experience working in an office environment in the field of communications. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in English, Communications, or Journalism, or Public Relations. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud products. Familiarity with social media management tools such as Sprout Social. Ability to analyze web traffic and social media metrics to measure the success of the content and campaigns. Experience conducting keyword research and applying SEO best practices to optimize content. EVALUATION FACTORS You must have the experience, knowledge and skills as listed in EACH of the evaluation factors. Failure to demonstrate that you meet all of the evaluation factor requirements as listed below will result in a score of zero (0); an ineligible status, and you will not be referred for further consideration. Demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including detail-oriented editing and proofreading.
