Key Responsibilities:

The Communication Specialist supports emergency response management by creating content and managing information to meet stakeholder, donor, and partner requirements while engaging media to highlight impact. The role monitors and reports reputational risks, ensures compliance with World Vision safe communication policies, and demonstrates a Christ-centered approach in working with children, communities, and the World Vision team. 

Major Responsibilities and Activities:

Resource Gathering & Production

  • Gather, develop and deliver evidence -based, child and
  • community -focused resources and contents that capture and highlight the ongoing emergency/disaster responses to reflect positive change or results.
  • Appropriately support the engagement with the media to raise awareness on impact of the response or results

Internal Collaboration

  • Provide support to and collaborate intently with other Response functions and WVDF units with the guidance of Communicatons Management and Response Management
  • Coordinate with Information Management to provide situation updates and other relevant contents

Visibility and Branding

  • Ensure adherence to safe communication, content gathering, sharing practices per WV policy and standards and partner requirements
  • Review IECs, Information provision/accountablity and other resources of the response are coordinated with National Communications Manager for appropriate approvals.

Risk Monitoring

  • Monitor and reports Response Management reputational risks issues associated with the response

Team work and performance

  • Participation and contribute in team activities (devotional, corporate prayers, and other activities assigned).
  • Partnering for performance activities with immediate Response Supervisor/s

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/College Degree in Development of Mass Communications or Journalism or equivalent.
  • At least three to five years experience in a similar position or capacity in humanitarian and emergency context.
  • Ability to work in highly complex and risky environments, including highly sensitive areas.
  • Preferably with industry experience in news and media agencies, advertising, and/or NGO humanitarian work.
  • Experience with NGO or humanitarian work especially during disasters or emergencies highly preferred
  • Expertise  High analytic, reporting and presentation skills
  • High media engagement s kills and experience; able to face the fiercest of media (or the camera).
  • Have good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian laws and standards.
  • Excellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 70-90% of the time and be based in Cebu Province disaster affected locations.
  • Experienced in working within high-stress, challenging environments, including extreme weather conditions.
  • With good  physical health condition.
  • Basic English and Tagalog dialects.
