Job Description

Purpose:

The Communications Specialist II or III, under general supervision, writes, edits, designs, and assists in the production of informational and promotional materials, presentations, and special events. This position supports the development and implementation of departmental communication plans, and collaborates with colleagues to deliver clear, engaging content across various platforms. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and bring creativity to messaging and branding.

What We Need:

We are actively recruiting for a level II or III Communications Specialist

Minimum qualifications for a Communications Specialist II: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of related experience

Minimum qualifications for a Communications Specialist III:  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and 4 years of related experience

What is Helpful:

  • Experience in marketing and branding, with demonstrated ability to craft messaging and develop strategies that strengthen organizational brand and engagement

  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely

Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, design, and produce brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, speeches, and reports

  • Proofread, edit, and update information on departmental websites

  • Maintain tracking systems for project timelines and costs

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and promoting overall departmental communication plans and strategies

  • Draft or write news releases and disseminate them to media outlets

  • Plan, implement, and promote special events and programs

  • Prepare presentations, publications, and displays; coordinate publications with printers

  • Generate ideas to enhance communications strategies and brand presence

  • Maintain strong organizational systems to support multiple projects and deadlines

The well-qualified Communications Specialist III candidate would possess a moderate level of the experience above.
