THE JOB:
Join the culinary team at Salt & Ivy, a lively coastal kitchen where fresh ingredients, seasonal flavors, and relaxed refinement define the experience. As a Commis, you will support the Sous Chef in executing a consistent, high-quality menu that balances elevated technique with an inviting, approachable feel. From hands-on preparation and thoughtful plating to learning and applying core kitchen fundamentals, you’ll play an important role in delivering dishes that reflect Salt & Ivy’s vibrant personality. Your attention to detail, teamwork, and pride in your craft will help create memorable dining moments for every guest.

THE STARTING RATE: $21.00 an hour

THE SCHEDULE:

  • Full Time | Day Shift

  • Friday - Tuesday | 7:30am – 3:30pm

  • Off Wednesday & Thursday

  • Must be open and flexible to work varied shift, including weekends and holidays based on the business needs

Salt & Ivy Overview

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Assist the Sous Chef with daily prep, production, and service to ensure consistency and quality in every dish

  • Maintain proper rotation, storage, and labeling of food to support freshness and cost control

  • Monitor station setup, cleanliness, and organization to ensure smooth kitchen operations

  • Support the training and guidance of new team members to uphold departmental standards

  • Execute accurate plating and presentation that reflects Salt & Ivy’s polished yet approachable style

  • Communicate and collaborate with kitchen leadership to meet service goals and maintain efficiency

  • Assist with inventory and ordering as needed

  • Uphold all sanitation, safety, and quality standards in compliance with company policies

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Demonstrates 1+ years of prior relevant experience in high-volume cooking, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Holds a High School Diploma or GED

  • Exhibits hands-on experience as a broiler cook with strong temperature control and attention to detail

  • Excels in expediting, ensuring clear communication and timely service during peak operations
