Responsibilities
• Support the regulatory strategy to align business objectives with the timeframes required to obtain the corresponding federal authorizations.
• Support project kickoff meetings and follow-up meetings for the execution of the regulatory strategy.
• Stay updated on project progress at the construction/technical level to align the strategy and the regulatory teams.
• Provide consulting services to internal teams on commercial regulatory matters.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, finance, accounting, tax, legal, and consulting departments during the pre-operational and operational stages of assets and new initiatives or projects assigned by the project leader.
• Stay up-to-date on legal, contractual, regulatory, and economic issues that may impact the business and regulatory strategy.
• Ensure compliance with pre-operational regulatory obligations until the start of project operations.
• Participate in meetings with authorities to provide follow-up and support to the regulatory teams.
• Any other activities required by the leader based on business needs.
• Researches and selects information, analyzes and prepares summaries of results for management review.
• Develops or modifies models based on theoretical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems.
• May lead small, less complex projects or be involved in portions of larger, more complex projects led by a senior analyst or manager.
Requirements:
• Four years of proven, progressive regulatory experience in the natural gas sector
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Law, Economics, Business, or Mathematics, with preference given to candidates with a postgraduate degree (i.e., MBA, CFA)
• Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally to identify and implement practical solutions
• Proactive and able to balance multiple competing priorities while driving problem resolution and continuous improvement
• Demonstrated ability to interpret commercial and technical projects, regulations, and financial agreements to support a regulatory strategy
• Excellent discretion in handling confidential information and communicating with third parties
• Understanding of the regulatory framework and stakeholders influencing the energy sector in Mexico and, more broadly, in North America
• Ability to propose regulatory solutions to issues related to commercial projects
• Experience in regulatory affairs for the development of natural gas pipeline projects in Mexico
• Ability to summarize and synthesize materials to identify issues and develop regulatory solutions.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Oral and written communication skills in English (medium) and Spanish.
• Ability to adapt to changing mandates and tight deadlines.
