Commercial Real Estate Investment Analyst

San Francisco, California Full time

The San Francisco–based Real Estate Finance team is hiring an Analyst to join a three‑person team, including two Investment Officers, providing analytical support and coordination in the origination and portfolio management of commercial real estate loans.

The Analyst will review new investment opportunities, prepare investment analyses, and summarize the key attributes—including strengths and risks—of potential investments. About 30% of the Analyst’s time will be focused on the annual review and ongoing management of existing portfolio assets. The role requires the ability to distill and communicate analyses into clear, actionable recommendations, including through Excel models, presentation materials, and AI‑assisted tools. Knowledge of commercial real estate investments (which could include relevant coursework and/or internship experience) is preferred but not required.
 
 Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite commercial real estate opportunities for new mortgage investments and for existing portfolio assets across multiple property types, including multifamily, retail, office, and industrial.

  • Interact with commercial real estate brokers, borrowers, and other industry professionals.

  • Prepare investment summaries, financial analyses, and written approval documents.

  • Assist with the preparation of annual reviews and ongoing asset‑level monitoring.

  • Participate in market research and data collection to support investment decision‑making.

  • Travel periodically to primary markets in Northern California, Utah, and the Pacific Northwest.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a preference for concentration in Finance or Real Estate.

  • One to two years of experience in commercial real estate lending, investment, brokerage, appraisal firm, or consulting is preferred, though relevant internship or analyst program experience also considered.

  • Clear thinker, creative yet thorough problem-solver, strong research skills.

  • Positive attitude, collaborative personality who will work effectively with other team members.

  • Ability to work under time pressure, manage multiple tasks, balance competing priorities, and meet deadlines.

  • Self-motivated, organized, pro-active, sense of urgency, conscientious, takes pride in providing high quality, accurate work.

  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and the ability to utilize AI‑assisted tools and other analytical platforms.

Salary range is expected to be between

$78,000.00 USD - $140,500.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
