Job Description

The Systems Commercial Engineer brings a broad and deep technical skill set, combining expertise in system design with the ability to integrate multiple products and technologies into an overall application. This role collaborates closely with Sales, Marketing, and Business Units to ensure solution architectures are aligned with customer needs—driving successful outcomes and delivering measurable business value.

Travel across North America up to 20% is required to support business activities such as trade shows, training, and customer engagements.

This will be a hybrid role, ideally based at one of our key sites in Milwaukee or Cleveland. You will report into the Commercial Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop in-depth technical and commercial knowledge of Rockwell Automation products and industrial automation systems.
  • Deliver pre-sales support through system architecture reviews, proof-of-concept development, and solution recommendations.
  • Produce technical content—documentation, presentations, webinars, and videos—to support sales and subject matter experts.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and customer demonstrations, both virtually and at Customer Solution and Experience Centers.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • The ability to travel up to 20%

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Minimum 8 years in control system design or customer application support
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and lead projects or teams
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation technologies, including but not limited to:
  • PlantPAx – Distributed Control System (DCS) for process automation
  • Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB) – System configuration and validation
  • FactoryTalk Linx – Communication platform for device connectivity
  • Studio 5000 Design Software – Control system programming and configuration
  • FactoryTalk View ME/SE – HMI and SCADA development for machine-level and supervisory control
  • Redundancy Systems – Design and implementation of fault-tolerant architectures
