The Commercial Microenterprise Leader leads the strategy, innovation, and full P&L performance for the Commercial business — encompassing applied HVAC systems and commercial water heating solutions for large buildings and institutions.
This leader sets the vision and drives execution to achieve growth, profitability, and operational excellence, ensuring alignment with the Air & Water Hoshin and Product & Platform Development (P&PD) strategies. This role leads Product Management and Sales directly, with dotted-line leadership of Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Customer Success, and Transformation (PMO).
As the general manager for the Commercial business, this leader will operate with a customer-first mindset, drive simplification and speed, and build a culture grounded in empowerment and accountability.

How You'll Create Possibilities
Business Leadership & P&L Ownership
- Own the full P&L, including Sales, EBIT, Cash, Pricing, Share, Mix, Total Product Cost, and COQ.
- Define and execute the long-term strategy for applied HVAC and commercial water heating solutions, focusing on profitable growth and operational excellence.
- Oversee financial planning, portfolio performance, and business case development for large-scale and strategic projects.
- Manage pricing, margin, and project pipeline to optimize profitability and return on investment.
Customer-First Growth & Market Strategy
- Develop and execute strategies for key market segments including mechanical contractors, specifying engineers, developers, and large institutional customers.
- Lead the team in understanding customer needs, system performance requirements, and emerging market trends.
- Partner with Marketing and Sales to strengthen channel programs, key account management, and brand positioning.
- Build strategic relationships with design engineers, contractors, and end users to expand preference for Air & Water solutions.
Innovation & Cross-Functional Execution
- Lead NPI and product system integration initiatives to deliver differentiated, high-efficiency, and sustainable commercial HVAC and water systems.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Technology to ensure product quality, system reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive simplification and modularity in product and system design to enhance speed-to-market and scalability.
- Collaborate with Transformation (PMO) to execute enterprise projects, productivity programs, and cost-out initiatives.
Enterprise Collaboration & Alignment
- Align business objectives with Air & Water Hoshin priorities and P&PD strategies.
- Collaborate with Residential, Light Commercial, and Appliances microenterprises to identify shared technology, platform, and supply chain opportunities.
- Engage with Sourcing and supplier partners to manage cost structure, mitigate risks, and drive innovation in components and systems.
- Partner with the Lean Enterprise and Transformation teams to embed standard processes and data-driven decision-making.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of leadership experience in commercial HVAC, water heating, or industrial systems businesses.
- Proven success managing full P&L responsibility for large-scale engineered or system-based product portfolios.
- Expertise in project-based sales, complex channel management, and system lifecycle economics.
- Strong technical and financial acumen; ability to translate strategy into execution.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership and communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial, data-driven, and results-oriented leader with the ability to navigate complexity and drive performance.
- Willing and able to travel to customers, suppliers, and operations locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA preferred
- Experience in system-level HVAC design, applied engineering solutions, or connected energy management technologies.
- Knowledge of mechanical contracting and specification sales models.
- Demonstrated success in leading digital or smart system product initiatives.
- Proven ability to simplify decision-making and accelerate project execution across matrixed teams.
