Commercial Manager, Vision Care Hong Kong

The Commercial Manager is responsible for leading the Sales and Marketing functions in the development and execution of Brand and Channel strategies to deliver the annual operating plan through the maximization of sales and market share for the Vision Care franchise within Hong Kong. 

Responsibilities 

Franchise Strategy and P&L accountability 

  • Primary role is to act as the Vision Care franchise champion, creating focus and enthusiasm both internally and with external customers/agencies for Alcon’s Vision Care brands/products in Hong Kong.   

  • Leads portfolio strategy, the delivery of P&L goals through identification of critical success factors based on a robust understanding of customer and patient needs, monitoring of brand metrics and the external environment via appropriate tools. Always taking corrective actions as required to meet business objectives. 

  • Connected with the customer/marketplace, up to date on category dynamics, policies and market activities as well as leveraging business analytics to build customer partnerships and drive sales/market share growth. 

Product Pipeline & Portfolio Innovation 

  • Manages interactions with internal RA and external regulatory bodies to optimize portfolio performance. 

  • Informed of portfolio development priorities, timelines and owns deployment of both Product Innovation and Commercial Innovation.  

Franchise Marketing & Demand Generation 

  • Executes marketing plans and programs in alignment with International Marketing guidelines. 

  • Ensuring the A&P/Samples expenditure is well planned, tracked and deployed in an optimal manner within the agreed budgets. 

  • Customer/consumer experience evangelist, driving innovation with internal specialist teams in the areas of omni-channel engagement (search, CRM, Ecommerce). 

Cross-functional Leadership and External Engagement 

  • Collaborates with, influences and provides upstream input into both Local, Regional and International Commercial and Enabling functions to ensure commercial programs and innovation meet local requirements. 

  • Build external engagement and ECP advocacy via expert coordination of Professional Education, Medical Affairs and Marketing functions. 

Go-to-Market and Sales Execution 

  • Driving channel strategies, programs and initiatives specific to Vision Care’s Key customers in Optometry, Modern trade, Ecommerce and white space channels. 

  • Ensures execution of channel plans through regular communication and interaction with the sales team, key account team and in market visits. 

  • Delivers high quality sales reporting and forecasting. 

  • Developing customer solution-oriented programs and campaigns which differentiate Alcon as a preferred supplier. 

Talent and Culture Development  

  • Responsible for the effective leadership, management and coaching of direct reports. Ongoing capability assessment and proactive personal development of team, including the formulation of training and development plans to ultimately attract & retain talent.  

  • Ensure all commercial initiatives are executed in compliance with internal guidelines (e.g., Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery, Fair Competition, etc.) and external regulatory policies. 

 

Skills and Experience 

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree is required  

  • Proficiency in Local language (Mandarin/Cantonese) and English is mandatory  

  • Independent / Self-starter with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment 

  • Solid strategic skills, pragmatic approach and execution-focused 

  • Effective communication, presentation and negotiation skills 

  • Ability to influence decision makers up and down two or more levels, with and without authority, to ensure fully aligned customer/company business plan 

  • Ability to identify and assess risk and prioritize competing demands  

  • More than 12 years of experience in either Medical Device, Healthcare, OTC or FMCG industries with a minimum of 5 years in a combination of sales & marketing leadership roles 

  • Successful track record for delivering P&L through sizeable teams in a sustainable way 

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and influencing in a complex matrix organization locally, regionally and internationally 

  • Proven experience in growing and developing individuals/teams 

  • A few stretches, versus incremental, assignments in career history 

  • Sensitive to trends and developments within the ophthalmic/healthcare industry
