Axalta is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Service & Program Engineering Intern to support cross-functional initiatives within our coatings business. This internship offers hands-on experience in technical problem-solving, customer support, product validation, and program execution within a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment. The intern will collaborate with technical service engineers, program managers, R&D teams, and manufacturing personnel to support customer programs, product launches, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Technical Service Engineers in troubleshooting product performance and application-related issues at customer sites or within internal labs

  • Support validation testing, data collection, and analysis for new or existing coating systems

  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and customer-facing summaries

  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives

  • Assist in coordinating engineering program timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional communications

  • Support program tracking tools, dashboards, and milestone reporting

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction

  • Maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards

 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

    • Chemical Engineering

    • Materials Science

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Manufacturing Engineering

    • Chemistry or related technical field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Ability to interpret technical data and generate clear documentation

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

 

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to coatings, polymers, or surface science

  • Experience with laboratory testing or manufacturing environments

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis or data visualization tools

  • Project management or program coordination experience
