The Commercial Development Manager reports into the Commercial function of Centrica Asset Financing and Metering (AF&M). The Commercial division sets the growth strategy for AF&M whilst alongside driving commercial opportunities and decision making across the overall AF&M remit and cost base.

As Development Manager, you will be responsible for setting and executing growth strategy to deliver long term, sustainable value across the markets within your remit.

Key Accountabilities

This role calls for a highly articulate and proactive individual who can cultivate new relationships and unlock fresh opportunities. You will excel at shaping complex commercial structures and balancing risk with the need for timely delivery.

You will bring an innovative mindset, skilfully aligning Centrica’s capabilities with emerging market needs to create imaginative, distinctive, and value‑driven solutions.

  • Set and deliver strategy targeting range of customer solutions to grow customer numbers and P+L contribution
  • Proactively engage and build relationships internally and externally across target markets to build knowledge, insight and promote Centrica capabilities
  • Lead market analysis, proposition development and pricing proposals to deliver commercially successful outcomes
  • Negotiate with clients, vendors, and partners; mitigate risks
  • Develop innovative solutions that leverage Centrica's capabilities to maximise value for both client and Centrica
  • Serve as the primary Centrica interface with clients, supporting internal teams to drive progress from concept design through to solution development
  • Lead development of client facing bid documentation and supporting materials, collaborating with subject matter experts
  • Lead internal approvals processes and governance, building relationship with senior leadership to rapidly establish credibility and influence

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in leading business development and commercial growth in a complex sector
  • Gravitas and interpersonal skill to build new external relationships, rapidly establishing rapport and trust
  • Ability to structure commercially successful outcomes, liaising across multiple teams to build credible, robust solutions and proposals
  • Proven experience in creating new opportunities and applying creative, lateral thinking  to delivering growth in nascent markets
  • Confidence and credibility to influence senior management decisions and the direction of the business
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands and consistently deliver timely, high-quality outputs
  • Capable of independently drafting and negotiating heads of terms and contracts
