Position Summary:

The Commercial Coordinating, Data & Insights Director is a pivotal role reporting directly to the Vice President of Commercial Central Management. This position provides strategic oversight for the Data & Insights, Master Data Governance, and Central Coordinating functions. As a leader, you will shape enterprise-wide data strategy, drive innovation, and ensure seamless integration of commercial analytics with business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the development and execution of a visionary analytics strategy, aligning data-driven decision-making with corporate goals.
  • Directs advanced analytic initiatives, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to deliver actionable intelligence and maintain market leadership.
  • Provides executive oversight of data integrity and operational excellence across multiple MPC organizations.
  • Strategically engages cross-functional leaders to drive continuous improvement, system upgrades, and optimal user experience.
  • Ensures robust data stewardship and year-round support, reinforcing business resilience and continuity.
  • Leads operational support for New Business Realization and New Product Realization programs, directly influencing top-line growth.
  • Drives strategic initiatives including talent acquisition, onboarding, and enterprise system training, cultivating a high-performance culture.
  • Administers critical economic models guiding contract decisions and market positioning across branded and unbranded segments.
  • Commands business recovery and continuity initiatives, safeguarding commercial operations against disruptions.
  • Aligns analytics and performance management platforms with strategic business cycles to maximize value creation.
  • Leads MPC’s digital and analytics transformation, ensuring Commercial remains at the forefront of industry innovation.
  • Utilizes advanced analytical platforms to optimize end-to-end planning and enterprise decision-making across the fuels value chain.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or Data Analytics.
  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas or energy markets with emphasis on planning, analysis, and data insights.
  • Proven track record of translating technical model outputs into actionable commercial or operational recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of corporate functions, supply chain dynamics, refining operations, and logistics decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytical, reporting, or insights teams in cross-functional environments.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Economics, Data Analytics, or a quantitative discipline.
  • Experience integrating data insights into performance management or KPI frameworks.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to partner effectively with Commercial, Corporate, Operations, and Digital functions.
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting platforms and AI-assisted analytics for self-serve insight generation.
