Commercial Business Advisor - Taipei

Taipei, Taiwan Full Time

This role is based in the Xinyi District, Taipei NZTE office. 

Use your business development know-how and know-who to help New Zealand businesses grow bigger, better, faster in Taiwan. 

Please note - this role is known internally as a Business Development Manager.

Taiwan is New Zealand’s 7th largest export market at NZD $1.8bn with dairy, fruit, meat and wood being the largest export sectors. NZ now has an exciting opportunity to diversify its exports to Taiwan in the manufacturing, infrastructure, services and technology sectors.  Building on existing traction in geothermal energy services and high-value manufacturing, this role provides a unique opportunity for supporting existing exporter growth plans, whilst exploring new potential sectors.  With the strong trade relationship underpinned by the ANZTEC free trade agreement, New Zealand exporters now benefit from zero tariffs, allowing them to maintain and grow their competitive advantage in Taiwan.
  
Who we are: 
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand's international business development agency. We work with some of New Zealand’s most ambitious and innovative companies, helping them to grow globally.  

What you will be doing: 
Our Taipei-based Taiwan team are looking for a well-connected and energetic Commercial Business Advisor. You will need strong commercial experience and business networks in Taiwan, preferably in the government, technology, renewable energies and/or manufacturing industries.  
You will be working alongside senior leaders within New Zealand businesses, helping to advise on how to enter, navigate and grow in the local Taiwan market. You will be willing to ‘roll your sleeves up’ to proactively support execution of business growth plans, including to identify and provide strategic introductions, and navigate the Taiwanese market with appropriate analysis and research.  
You will be part of a global organisation working as ‘One Global Team’ with colleagues in your region, New Zealand and our other international offices to achieve the New Zealand government's ambitious target of doubling the value of exports by 2034. Effective collaboration with other NZ Inc. agencies including MFAT in Taipei will be essential to success.  

What you will need to be successful: 
·       Have strong commercial acumen through experience in business development, consulting, or account management roles.
·       Exposure to a range of industries such as technology, renewable energies and specialised manufacturing would be advantageous.
·       Experience in launching or scaling businesses with an understanding of go-to-market strategies, regulatory environments and distribution/procurement channels.
·       Established connections in Taiwan across government and other key technical industries.
·       Superb communication and relationship management skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
·       Knowledge of New Zealand and Taiwan’s trade and indigenous culture relations and the ANZTEC FTA will be helpful.  

Fluency in Mandarin & English is required. You will already need to be eligible to work in Taiwan.
