Job Description:
Role Purpose
The purpose of the Commercial & Finance Analyst is to be a part of our Global Commercial team within Dentsu Media which drives profitable growth, mitigates risk, and maximises commercial opportunities across both Dentsu Media’s new and existing client partnerships, with a primary focus on global media clients and pitches.
By working with Commercial Managers, the Commercial & Finance Analyst will contribute to the development and provision of effective commercial support to Dentsu’s global media team, working across Carat, iProspect and Dentsu X to develop a new and existing international client base.
Key Responsibilities
The key accountabilities of the role are as follows:
Close collaboration with Commercial Managers and Commercial Directors on global new business pitches, where the analyst will have responsibility for:
Assisting the Commercial Manager and Director in business partnering with Client Presidents to support fee proposals.
Ensuring a thorough understanding of the commercial strategy decided upon by the Commercial Director and Manager, as well as the key commercial challenges of the pitch.
Briefing the local markets key commercial/finance contacts on the scope of the pitch and guidance on the proposed fee structure.
Analysing the fee proposals returned by markets to check the fee is in line with the briefing.
Challenging market submissions and making suggestions that will enhance our submission.
Preparing summaries of our commercial offer, and profitability reports which are clear and concise.
Finalising the commercial templates to return to the pitch consultants.
Finding opportunities to drive improvement within all commercial processes.
Collaboration with Commercial Managers and Commercial Directors on existing Global Client deliverables:
Liaising with CFOs across the network to collect commercial information and assist with contract compliance.
Collating and analysing financial reports on a wide range of global clients including media rebates, unbilled media, debtors, timesheet, and fee reports. Challenging and questioning any anomalies and movements to ensure we can answer any key stakeholder questions.
Assisting the manager with performance related fee calculations and communication of the results with markets.
Negotiating directly with local markets CFOs on annual fee renegotiations.
Internal Processes:
Working on internal projects within the Global Commercial team to improve our commercial processes globally.
Ensuring the commercial KPI database is kept up to date.
Working on a strategic commercial excellence project of compiling a database of intelligence on best legal, financial, and commercial practice.
Ad Hoc financial analysis as required.
Professional Skills & Qualfiications
Qualifications and experience
Strong academics demonstrating exceptional numerical literacy.
Media industry experience is desirable, but not essential.
Dentsu actively encourages employees to gain qualifications therefore this role will be eligible for funded study and exams such as ACCA/ACA/CIMA and study leave for such exams will be provided.
Skills and attributes
Previous financial analysis experience required demonstrating exceptional numerical literacy.
Commercial awareness and desire to develop further in this area, coupled with an interest in the media industry.
Strong analytical skills, logical thinking and demonstrates attention to detail.
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
Proactive and organised, able to plan and co-ordinate multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Good working knowledge of basic MS office suite, including Word and PowerPoint. Strong Excel skills with an ability to assimilate large volumes of data.
Dynamic and highly motivated individual able to work with colleagues and clients of all levels and markets.
