Commercial Analyst

JOB PURPOSE

  • Financial & analytical support to commercial business by providing in depth and predictive analysis to ultimately drive the business profitability and forecast accuracy.
  • Integrate external data sets with internal sales performance to create analogues to predict market evolution
  • Be the Power BI super user within the Finance and Commercial Teams

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DUTIES

Commercial Finance Analysis

  • Create Retail pricing analytical tools to pre-empt pricing opportunities; model possible changes in buyer behaviour to derive price insights and recommendations to Commercial teams.
  • Review price volume-price elasticity and challenge existing practices, alongside and in liaison with Commercial heads; test, monitor and record outcomes to refine methodology and algorithms.
  • Monitor SFE and create reporting suites to support Commercial Team assessment of opportunities.
  • UK Supplier rebate accounting and processing
  • Alongside the Finance Business Partner, develop proactive retro rebate analysis and review assessment of provisions
  • Preparation of Customer Rebate agreements, ongoing analysis of spend vs BDI/Rebate and projections.
  • Perform analysis on sales data to facilitate accurate customer monthly spend targets – linked to cashflow forecasting for treasury.

Report generation

  • Assess and issue daily sales reports, including full customer data and performance vs rebate targets.
  • Populate and distribute monthly landing estimates based on daily sales and month end punt – using analytics to support a landing estimate
  • Perform margin calc on order pipeline to ascertain forecast profit.
  • Perform Daily and Month end Floating COG margin analysis.

Financial Process Support

  • SDN (stock destruction notice) reporting, liaise with supply chain and record all SDN details on the central database. Apply both transfer price and standard cost values to the volumes identified on the SDN, report to Head of Finance quarterly.
  • Audit preparation – collating extensive documentation required for audit evidence, for hard close, year end and statutory account audits. 
  • Inventory write off analysis, ensure key information provided to Financial Controller to ensure correct provisioning.
  • Highlight and review any issues arising from the anti-raid report, populate the report monthly and circulate to SLT and report annual return by 31st January

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Economics or Statistics degree.
  • A good understanding of commodity generics; pharma background ideal.
  • Experience in commercial finance/analytics.
  • Power BI expert able to visualise dashboards and create insights.
  • Excellent computer literacy and ability to create and use financial and market models.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent Analytical skills and financial management skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Team player with self- drive, willing to be hands on and add value in a dynamic and changing organisation.
  • Experience of SAP is a plus.
