The primary goal of the College Connection Coach is to establish relationships with a case load of high school students to encourage and assist toward enrollment at Ivy Tech Community College. The Coach will work closely with the assigned high school(s) and Ivy Tech stakeholders on dual credit/dual enrollment, while identifying gaps in dual credit/dual enrollment offerings that must be available to lead to an Ivy Tech credential/conversion.
The coach will increase the conversion rate of traditional age applicants to Ivy Tech and provide strategic guidance to high school students for a completion pathway to high wage/high demand employment. The coach will provide college and career support to high school students without a post-secondary plan to possible career options that include workforce ready short-term training all the way through to associate degree options and beyond.
This position will be a hybrid model that will include campus-based work along with travel to assigned high schools.
- Complement services that may be available through high school, college, or the community including college exploration services, admissions processes, financial aid and scholarship resources.
- Participate fully in all high school activities targeted to students and parents logically associated with the college process including: orientation, student/parent nights, career days, FAFSA workshops for parents, and all other related programs.
- Coach students on the transitions from high school to Ivy Tech to work.
- Communicate closely and regularly with the guidance staff at the high school.
- Communicate with students and parents the benefits of Ivy Tech and Dual Credit/Enrollment.
- In conjunction with high school guidance counselors, support dual credit registration in the DualEnroll.com platform.
- Inform students of the Knowledge Assessment process to help identify student eligibility for dual credit/dual enrollment classes.
- Attend Ivy Tech on campus recruitment programs, dual credit/enrollment nights, orientation and other programs logically associated with the coaches’ role.
- Implement student career workshops, which may involve on-campus activities, tours, industry visits, and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Must stay current with Ivy Tech academic programs and resources, admission and registration processes, career and higher education trends, and requirements of the Indiana Department of Education.
- The Coach will attend Ivy Tech meetings, training sessions and other activities as necessary.
- Utilize Ivy Connect (CRM) to track efforts in the Ivy Tech application and conversion process.
- Utilize Degree Tracker to determine students’ progress toward an Ivy Tech Credential.

Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience is preferred.
Must be able to pass a background check and be able to work in a high school setting.
Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects required.
Must possess excellent relationship building skills including working successfully with diverse populations, including (but not limited to) college and school personnel, teachers and prospective students.
Must possess effective communication skills (phone, email, and written) and experience in public speaking. Proficiency with Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) is required; experience with a Customer Relationship Management tool is preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license, be willing and able to travel, and work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
Experience in K-12 or college-level preferred. Training or teaching experience with young adults preferred.
Must be able to maintain the ability to work in all assigned high schools.
