The opportunity
As a CoE Lead within the Center of Expertise Credit Risk Modelling Data, you will lead all Credit Data related activities feeding into the banks global credit modelling landscape serving global Wholesale Bank, countries various business lines as well as regulators and auditors. It includes asset and data ownership of the global applications including implementing requirements of key stakeholders on the demand side like Integrated Risk and Wholesale Banking. It will include both business demand, as well as regulatory demand which is characterized by a high level of complexity and strict timelines to deliver.

COO Risk sits right at the heart of the Bank’s operations. We translate our rather complex banking business exposures into impact on risk weighted assets and provisions in line with the constantly changing business desires and the latest regulatory requirements. We also provide important insights in NFR and Compliance topics and cater for corresponding regulatory reporting needs. COO Risk delivers baseline and change activities for the Risk Organization with the purpose to drive our partners to maximize value in a safe & compliant environment. We play a critical role at ING and service all business lines, CROs and COOs of the Bank. COO Risk is committed to take explicit ownership of the end-to-end execution of regulatory transformation initiatives.
The Center of Expertise Credit Risk Modelling Data is responsible for delivering model-ready credit risk data for ING's global WB Credit Risk modelling landscape. The CoE acts as a single point of contact for modelling data sets, bringing together scoping, Default and LGD data capabilities while
ensuring data is sourced, processed, delivered and governed in line with ING's regulatory and modelling standards.A key focus is on data automation to ensure timely, accurate, and scalable preparation of data for modelling purposes, reducing manual intervention and improving efficiency. This includes
implementing solutions that make data ready for immediate use in models and reporting. Additionally, the CoE ensures full transparency and exposure to regulators, meeting stringent compliance requirements and facilitating regulatory reviews.
Roles and responsibilities
As a CoE lead, we expect you to:
• Provide clear leadership and direction – Set strategic priorities, align with CDO Risk and ECB expectations, and ensure timely delivery of integrated risk processes.
• Drive project and program execution – Deliver committed milestones, manage dependencies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure operational compliance – Maintain adherence to ING policies, ECB guidelines, and SREP/MIS standards while implementing efficient, scalable solutions.
• Manage stakeholders effectively – Build strong relationships across domains, communicateclearly, and align with internal and external parties (e.g., regulators, auditors).
• Build and lead high-performing teams – Attract, develop, and retain skilled professionals while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader – Anticipate challenges, propose innovative solutions, and represent the domain internally and externally.
• Champion automation and AI-driven solutions – Promote the use of automation and advanced analytics (including AI) to streamline data preparation, improve accuracy, and enable faster, smarter decision-making.

Required skills and experiences
• University / Postgraduate (Master’s degree).
• General Experience: Wide and deep experience providing expert competence (Over 10 years to 15 years)
• Managerial Experience: Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long time frames (Over 10 years to 15 years)
• Builds Effective Teams / Customer Focus / Drives engagement / Drives Results / Ensures accountability / Strategic mindset / Stakeholder oriented
• Experience with SAS and Python, SQL is a plus
• Dynamic programming
• Good understanding of Credit Risk modelling concepts
• Good understanding of Financial Risk management
• Experience with data automation and AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Proven experience in interacting with regulators, ensuring compliance and facilitating regulatory reviews.
• A personality and the capabilities to function effectively and independently even in complex, high pressure situations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data and information into actionable roadmaps and decision proposals
• Excellent level of English
