Location: Wadesboro Hatchery, Wadesboro, NC

Schedule:  Sunday- Thursday

Hours: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:00AM until job is complete. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

                       

Position Summary:

  • This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing hatchery infrastructure.  Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setter and Hatcher PM and calibration: Perform all items on the Manufacturer’s recommended preventive maintenance program. (40%)
  • Electrical: Change motors in incubators and hatchers, change wall receptacle Replace ends on cords, change light fixtures, wire single and three phase motors, read and understand a voltmeter and ammeter. (20%)
  • HVAC Units and Evap Coolers: Basic knowledge to repair and troubleshoot. (10%)
  • Motherboard and PLC troubleshooting/repair on equipment: Manufacturer’s control system (10%)
  • Repair/replace equipment associated with offal: Macerator, Pump and Motor. (10%)
  • Chiller knowledge: Temperature set point and current, Pressure setpoint and current, and identify/fix issues if the temperature or pressure is not correct. (5%)
  • Troubleshoot highspeed, dock, and Chase Durris doors. (5%)Meet all certification requirements for wearing a full face respirator (PFT and RFT) . Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on annual basis. TMs must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours.

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.  Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly push or pull 500 lbs. and lift up to 50 lbs.  While performing the duties if this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on a concrete floor; walk; sit’ and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; tald or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth per caption; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, earmuffs and/or ear plugs, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals.  Must wear company provided facial covering.
  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Formaldehyde is in use at the facility.  Also used is disinfectants and sanitizing solution, and lubricants.
  • Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

Qualified applicants must have at least 12 months consecutive work experience with one employer over the past three years with no gaps in employment of over six months. (Exceptions are made for layoffs, attending school, birth of a child, or elder care.) Work history will not apply to applicants when they have been FULL TIME STUDENTS consecutively for the last 36 months.

Starting Wage:$22.95 / HourPlus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
