Co-op Intern 6-months – Asset & Liability Management (AML), General Account Investments Asia

The Opportunity

The Global Asset Liability Management group plays a leadership role in the identification and assessment of ALM related risks globally, along with the development of investment and risk management strategies to support the company’s business and financial objectives.  Becoming a member of the Asia ALM team offers a distinctive chance to engage with one of Asia’s foremost insurance companies in an investment-focused capacity. This role enables individuals to contribute directly to the company’s investment strategies, gaining valuable experience in asset and liability management within a dynamic and influential organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the core ALM team in Toronto to coordinate and review ALCO and various risk and investment reports.
  • Monitor asset mix/quality/duration against approved investment strategies and support the leading ALM representative for remedial actions on violations.
  • Support initiatives as necessary to deliver higher risk-adjusted returns for Asia Business Units

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and work ethic, sees tasks through to completion.
  • Undeterred by challenges and remains motivated, applying creative thinking to overcome obstacles.
  • Communicates clearly and succinctly on technical and business matters.
  • Previous internship experience in an investment role is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Economics)
