CNC Machining Process Engineer

What you’ll achieve
You will be part of a growing team of technical subject matter experts who are passionate about driving technology incubations enhancing the customer experience. In this role you are part of a global interdisciplinary design and technology organization where you will be collaborating with teammates, product engineering, marketing, corporate sustainability and other critical stakeholders.  We are looking for a candidate with a passion for technology, an open mind, and a desire to continuously learn new things.  The primary objective of this role is to optimize notebook part designs through the application of CNC machining expertise. Come help us make a difference driving solutions which enhancing the design of our products, the possibilities are endless.  

You will:

  • Collaborate with ID, engineering and suppliers during the concept phase to optimize part designs for CNC process.
  • Collaborate directly with ODM and mechanical suppliers for CNC parts during the detailed design of the product.
  • Analyze and optimize CNC machining processes to reduce costs and improve yield rates.
  • Evaluate and recommend new CNC machining technologies and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and partners to align their technology roadmaps with Dell's strategic objectives.
  • Become the SME for assigned technology area.

Essential Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of CNC machining processes, including programming, setup, and operation of CNC machines.
  • Understanding of CNC machining parameters, such as feed rates, spindle speeds, and tooling selection
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems, with a strong focus on root cause analysis and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, partners, and internal stakeholders to drive business outcomes and ensure seamless communication.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive change across multiple stakeholders, with a strong focus on driving business outcomes and implementing process improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization, with a strong understanding of how to navigate complex organizational structures.
  • Proven ability to drive technical excellence and best practices within the team, with a strong focus on ensuring high-quality engineering solutions and continuous process improvement.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering or Chemistry


Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with typical finishes used for electronics: Paint, Anodizing, etc
  • Experience working in electronics supply chain in an ODM model.
