Job Summary: This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major Duties:

  • You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities.
  • You will perform airfield firefighting by involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are.
  • You will operate a variety of firefighting equipment.
  • You will combat fire or rescue personnel on board ships where conditions create very difficult and dangerous situations.

Qualifications: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Operating fire communications equipment; 5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents. OR Have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study. OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. ***The GS-05 position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and Firefighter II. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro-Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application.*** GS-04 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Operating fire communications equipment. OR Have successfully completed a 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study leading to a Bachelor's degree. OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. ***The GS-04 position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain the Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification within 12 months of employment.*** DEGREE AUDITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
