Nasdaq Stockholm is seeking an exceptional Chief Technologist to join our team in Stockholm and play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our world-class trading system. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in low-latency systems capable of handling extremely high transaction volumes, along with extensive experience in Java development, containerization technologies, and both cloud and on-premise deployments.

In this position, you will collaborate with platform architects to design and implement cutting-edge technical solutions for our trading system and work across all development teams to ensure technical solutions are implemented to the highest standards. Together, you will optimize system performance, focusing on low-latency and high-throughput capabilities. As a team, you will also be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and efficient cloud and on-premise deployments.  You will develop and implement strategies to enhance system resiliency and stability and create robust failover and disaster recovery solutions to ensure continuous system availability as well as conduct regular system health checks and stress tests to identify and mitigate potential points of failure.
 

Additionally, as a Chief Technologist, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams while staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain our competitive edge. We believe a successful candidate has proven leadership experience managing teams.
 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Extensive experience in Java software development, with a focus on high-performance trading systems and deep understanding of JVM optimization techniques
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing low-latency, high-volume transaction systems
  • Strong knowledge of containerization technologies, particularly Kubernetes
  • Experience with both cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premise deployments
  • Excellent understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and performance optimization
  • Demonstrated experience in building resilient systems with high availability and fault tolerance
  • Proficiency in implementing circuit breakers, rate limiting, and other stability patterns
  • Knowledge of financial markets and trading systems
  • Experience working with global and time diverse teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about complex technical challenges
  • Exceptional communication skills in English and ability to work effectively across teams

It would also be great to have:

  • Familiarity with messaging systems and in-memory data grids
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools
  • Expertise in chaos engineering and resilience testing methodologies
