Job Description

About the Role

Assists Facilities Logistics Specialist in providing coordination for all aspects of shipping and receiving for The Huntington. Has frequent contact with staff at all levels, plus daily interaction with vendors, carriers, and outside organizations. The Facilities Logistics Specialist II will also support Facilities and Capital Projects with the onsite logistical coordination of project contractors and deliveries. Reports to Associate Director of Facilities.

This is an on-call position with no set weekly hours, scheduled on an as needed basis.

Essential Duties

  • Receives daily shipments from vendors and carriers, documents, sorts, and reviews shipment materials before distribution. Monitors the timely flow of shipments in and out of the mailroom. Communicates arrival of shipments to recipients and coordinates the delivery and receipt of packages.

  • Processes outgoing mail and shipments for all departments within the institution, collaborating with transportation systems to ensure prompt shipment pickups. Ensures that the quality of all services provided meets the required standards. Make special shipping arrangements, as necessary. Tracks and fixes shipping errors.

  • Responds to internal inquiries and refers requestors to the proper channels as appropriate.

  • Interacts with staff at all levels, consultants, vendor representatives, carriers, and other outside organizations.

  • Maintains appropriate shipping supplies and keeps stamp machine and other equipment in good working order.

  • Keeps the Shipping & Receiving office and adjacent loading dock clean and orderly, with special attention to organizational detail.

  • All other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements and Experience

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must have excellent computational, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.

  • Must exercise high judgment and a strong ability to prioritize workflow.

  • Must perform duties in a friendly and collegial manner with all levels of the institution.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects; walk and stand for extended periods of time; climb ladders, stairs & catwalks; bend and reach.

  • Valid CA driver's license

  • Entry level
