About the Role:

The Regional Risk Manager ensures effective risk management across multiple operations, aligning risk strategies with business performance and safety goals. This role leads a team of risk experts to foster a proactive risk culture, supporting both immediate operational needs and long-term strategic objectives.

• Operational Efficiency: Enhance business performance through risk analysis, change management and continuous improvements.

• Risk Governance and Mitigation: Drive identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks within the ORM (Operational Risk Management) framework.

• Control Oversight: Manage controls performance and compliance with global and regional standards.

  • ORM System Leadership: Spearhead the implementation and enhancement of the ORM system across all regional operations, providing actionable insights to risk committees for informed decision-making.

  • Risk Assessment Management: Facilitate the execution of comprehensive risk assessments, ensuring that all material risks are accurately identified, evaluated, and mitigated within the ORM framework.

  • Capacity Building Development: Lead and train teams of local risk experts, ensuring consistent application of risk practices across all locations. Promote a culture of risk awareness and proactive management.

  • Performance Reporting: Regularly analyze and report risk management outcomes to senior leadership, offering insights and recommendations to reduce operational risks and improve strategic decision-making.

  • Risk Strategy Integration: Embed risk strategies into operational planning, covering mid- to long term objectives and change management initiatives. Ensure thorough risk documentation.

  • Adherence to Global Standards: Partner with regional functions to ensure alignment with Alcoa’s global risk protocols and compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Continuous Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in ORM processes by integrating incident learnings, audit findings, and benchmarking data to enhance internal controls.

  • Regional Risk Register: Maintain a comprehensive risk register for the region, ensuring that key risks are documented, reviewed, and aligned with corporate governance standards.

  • Audit and Compliance: Coordinate with audit processes, including ISO certification audits, to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.

What you can bring to this role:

  • Degree in Engineering, Science or Business.

  • Master’s degree is desirable.

  • Experience in a mining/metals industry is desirable.

  • Experience in Operational Risk Management role.

  • Analytical powerhouse – Focused improvement strategy and execution results.

  • Skilled in organizing resources and managing to priorities.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with extensive stakeholder engagement.

  • Operationally savvy and is experienced at effectively managing multiple issues.

  • A strong inclusive leader with presence, able to motivate, energize, coach and inspire the team to exceed objectives and
    innovate.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate, influence and collaborate across functions regionally, externally and globally, and at all levels
    of the organization, with proven success in managing by influence in a matrix organization.

  • High ethical standards of conduct, team collaborative efforts.

  • Substantial experience in governance and compliance management plan development.

  • Fluency in languages: Advanced English in writing and communication
