Purpose of role
The role of the Assistant Development Manager is to support the Mayfair West development team in progressing the various phases of the project through design, permitting, marketing, and construction.
Key responsibilities
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability needed. This includes the following; other duties may be assigned as needed within skill sets or if additional responsibilities are added.
- Assist team with permitting and delivery of Phase I with responsibility for aspects of development and opportunity to extend responsibility in future phases
- Co-ordinate activities of the consultant team as necessary to achieve project milestones such as the preparation of development and building permit applications
- Liaise with municipal staff as instructed by the Mayfair West team to progress project permitting
- Manage existing onsite buildings including three residential dwellings and presentation centre
- Manage updates to presentation centre including permitting and delivery of additional display suites
- Assist with internal reporting (quarterly reports, approval memos, etc.)
- Assist in preparing invoices, consultant contracts and other administrative tasks
- Track project schedules and budgets against major project milestones
- Document minutes of important meetings and ensure follow up actions are assigned and tracked to completion
- Manage project filing system
- Provide assistance as required to other internal Grosvenor departments (Finance, Construction, Marketing, Asset Management)
- Assist the Senior Financial Analyst with pro forma updates
- Assist in resolving various legal agreements such as disclosure statements, air space parcellation easements and crane swing agreements
- Health & Safety: Take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety, and the health & safety of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work
Preferred skills
Qualifications
- University degree or Diploma from accredited institution and/or equivalent real estate development experience (minimum 2 years) required
- Preference for educational background within Real Estate or Commerce
Track record
- Ability to manage a large multi-disciplinary consultant team and coordinate each of their contributions into one cohesive project vision
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and processes currently
- Proactive approach to problem solving
- Local market knowledge (markets, public agency relationships, consulting contacts) an asset
- Demonstrated interest in real estate development
Technical skills/knowledge
- Excellent written and oral communication skills essential
- Understanding of real estate finance concepts including a working knowledge of pro formas
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

The expected base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual offered salary will depend on experience, skills and qualifications.
