Summary of Position
The Medical Editor will be responsible for reviewing expert medical opinions and formatting them, primarily for delivery to members. The role ensures that all content is consistent, accurate, and compliant with regulatory standards. The Editor also reviews grammar, formatting and accurate match of all relevant patient identifiers across the document and any attachments. This position requires an understanding of therapeutic areas to effectively communicate complex medical information to a lay audience. The Medical Editor will review, copy edit, style, format, and proofread various medical writing deliverables while maintaining the integrity of the content.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as editor on assigned cases and as backup for other editors as necessary
- Perform cold reads (spell/grammar/punctuation/syntax), edits (formatting, data checks) per industry standards, company guidelines and/or client style; proofread materials as indicated
- Work closely and collaboratively with case managers, case coordinators and medical staff to ensure that materials are of the highest quality in terms of accuracy, utility, clarity, readability, and appeal; resolve any content/referencing issues
- Develop a thorough understanding of internal workflow processes
- Attend all relevant internal meetings to align and discuss deliverables or workflows
- Work proactively with operations management to communicate any issues on projects and brainstorm solutions of any editorial conflicts or issues that might impact timing
- Model our values of helping members and delivering highest quality care; act in a professional, ethical manner at all times
- Demonstrate leadership with regards to training or new initiatives in the department
- Serve as a professional mentor and example to junior editors

Qualifications Expected for Position
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field required; science, or health courses a plus
- Experience (3-5 years) medical editing or related field required
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills, including formatting
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and industry & regulatory standards
- Articulate written communication skills essential
- Ability to communicate complex medical information in a patient-friendly manner
- Knowledge of project parameters in regard to timelines and project goals
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel) and editing software tools
- Ability to work productively with others in a calm, mature, and professional manner at all times
- Bilingual French and English required
