Job Description:
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Mail Center is now hiring a Support Associate at the Daytona Beach campus. Under general supervision, this position will provide added support and serve as backup in all areas of the Mail Center as follows:
- Provide added Courier service for delivery and pickup of incoming and outgoing mail/packages for the University.
- Assist with the pickup of US mail/packages from the local Post Office (USPS), transport and unload at ERAU’s Mail Center for handling.
- Assist with receiving, preparation and data entry of incoming packages, staging department packages for our courier delivery, placing student packages in designated storage areas to await pickup and delivery of student packages at the customer service window.
- Assist with pre-sorting incoming mail, disbursement of departmental mail to sort station for campus delivery and sort and deliver student mail to their mailboxes.
- Assist with research, forwarding and return of incoming mail accordingly and as required by the USPS when not deliverable.
- Assist with all tasks associated in the preparation for assignment of student mailboxes.
- Assist and serve as backup to Mail Service Specialist by processing outbound US mail/packages for the University and as backup Postal Teller for the sale of postage for packages, stamps, stamped envelopes, mailer envelopes and supplies to counter customers to include payment processing.
- Assist with the handling and staging of all processed mail and prepaid packages for carrier pickup at end of each business day.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license, and must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):
- More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
- More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
- A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
- Experience in all phases of mail and shipping services
- Knowledge of US Postal/Shipping requirements and safety regulations in relation to mail/package preparation and processing
- Knowledge of mail/package processing equipment, handling and distribution techniques
- Skilled in progressive use of USPS website and associated applications, computer, calculator and credit card machines.
- Ability to handle a workload with multiple priorities
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to maneuver and lift heavy and awkward shaped items across counter
- Ability to exercise good judgment and have strong initiative in problem solving
